About a week ago we had been given the difficult task of selecting which device we wanted for Taylor. There were two choices – MEDEL, a very recently available device on the market in New Zealand and Cochlear Nucleus, one that they had been using solely up until recently. It was a very difficult decision and the professionals were not able to give us a huge amount of guidance as they were not able to be seen to prefer one over the other. We finally made the decision to go with the MedEL brand as the research we had undertaken seemed to point to that being slightly better. We felt hugely relieved once that decision was made as it had been causing us some loss of sleep and anxiety.
