They first checked to ears to ensure the eardrum was moving correctly, which it was. Next the actual hearing test involved conditional testing where Taylor was conditioned to look towards a puppet which was lit up and moved when she heard a certain sound. Both ears were tested using headphones and then they did the same test using a bone oscillator, where the oscillator is placed against the bone behind each ear to test bone conduction.
Nothing could prepare us for the results of this testing. Taylor has severe to profound hearing loss! The ENT specialists took us through a bunch of information, but little of it did we really take in and we headed home feeling absolutely numb with the news that we had just received.
