Taylor had her 9 month review today at the CI Programme with Neil and Joanne.
She was very shy at the start and wouldn't look at Neil or Joanne and kept on cuddling into Craig with her eyes shut! She eventually came right and the results showed that she was doing very well and at what they would expect at her hearing age of 9 months.
We had an awesome habilitation session with Joanne following. One of the first games was having a selection of objects including cat, dog, brush, fish, ball, baby, duck, spoon and we would ask Taylor to find a particular object without giving any (or limited) visual prompts and she would pick up the object and put it into a tube. She really enjoyed the game and particularly the praise when she got one. After about the 5th or 6th time of playing, she was getting the objects without any visual prompts at all. We were really pleased with her recognition so she is well on her way to learning language.
She also really enjoyed playing games on Joanne's iPad and from using our iPod knew exactly what she was doing! Definitely something for the wish list!
She also enjoyed singing the song "Two Little Dicky Birds".
We also tried a story sequencing game where Joanne showed her a card with what is happening in the story and we acted it out with a little plastic tree and pooh bear. She got right into it and was good at following the prompts.
On the speech side, she hasn't advanced much must the Mamma sound, but she has been experimenting a lot and have heard the 'b' sound a few times.
She recognises songs very well and will mimic the rhythm and pitch very well.
